Monday Question of the Week . . . Traditions

Today, in the United States the Christmas season has come to represent much more than the birth of Jesus Christ. Beyond the commercial trappings of Santa Clause and gift giving, the Christmas season is about spending time with our families and the traditions, old and new, that have come to represent what Christmas is really all about to us. With Christmas only a few days away what are the Christmas and Christmas Eve traditions, both religious and not, that you look forward to the most?

If you want to see what the Spirit of Christmas to come has in store, check out the following link...

And remember Scrooge's words: is this what shall be or what could be?

I hate it when these comment boxes cut off the long web links...if you visit my web profile and go to Heaven's Highway, you'll find the full link there!

I love going to Christmas services. I love being with my family in Virginia and I love being with my community in Pittsburgh. We moved a lot, so "set traditions" of doing things aren't really there, but my mom puts up the creche and little villages live all over our living room.

My favorite tradition is to read the Christmas messages on Presbyterian Bloggers. A Happymerrysolstihannakwanzamas to Miranda for managing this site! I am also oddly pleased that Shuck and Jive is permanently "updated" while others are not. And yet...I still feel...somehow...different.

Love,
John

I love it when Christmerce ends at the closing of the stores, and Christmas begins with the opening of the churches for late night services. Only then do I feel the peace of Christ has come.
